My Stoop is a Battlefield, and I Did Not Consent!

While Maplewood has, in my experience, long had a problem with early-rising orcs, it would seem the issue of morning-loving vagrants and beasts has only grown worse as of late. Since April, I have been the unfortunate victim of these industrious wretches nearly every time I’m in town, likely because of my virtuous nature. I have sustained grievous bodily harm, robbery, and a vicious targeted attack from a hired miscreant; I have been accosted within my own lodgings, nearly slain within the Spinning Jenny; and I have had my entire breakfast knocked to the ground before I was able to eat a single bite… twice. And all this before half-ten in the morning! It’s so farcical that it borders on absurd, and I might otherwise laugh were I not too busy mourning the loss of many an untouched cinnamon roll and scotch egg.

Furthermore, I should like to make it known that I am thoroughly unimpressed with Maplewood’s adventurer population. I cannot distinguish whether they are terrible at their jobs, or simply don’t value the lives of holy and pious innocents. Regardless of the reason, they have proven useless in the defense of those pure and blameless souls devoted to spreading the good word (as well as citizens of Maplewood), and ought to take their moral and spiritual obligation to the town more seriously.

Where are the allegedly noble and just Lightsworn Order? Those pillars of the community known as GOST? The Paragons of Might who suddenly don’t seem so terribly mighty after all? I have heard much of, but never once seen, Captain Arbor’s Militia, who suspiciously seem to only be active when I am asleep. I am beginning to doubt their existence at all! Everyone says the reason for Maplewood’s unusually high population of monsters, wights, and other such loathsome beings is due to the concentration of leylines in the area. I call these claims nothing but idle prates! It has become clear to this denizen that it is because those with the ability to cull the beasts do not raise their weapons against them with the urgency required.

This modest person entreats those who wield instruments of battle to use them in the name of all that is good and righteous. May this kind and humble request call you to arms for the sake of those helpless and Septly individuals who suffer such terrible pre-breakfast miseries.
